Day 13 – Upgrade
Several years ago, Mary and I were flying to Africa via Amsterdam.  As we were scanning in at the gate in Houston, the agent stopped us.  She reached for 2 new boarding passes and said: “We changed your seats. Have a nice flight.”  When we stepped on board, instead of going to the back of the plane, we were directed toward the front.  We had been given 2 roomy seats in a very quiet area.   We were so thankful!   As we reflected on the situation we couldn’t determine why we received this upgrade.  We did not have special status with the airline.  We had not requested improved seating.  We were recipients of an unforeseen and undeserved upgrade.
Upgrade.  (Day 13)
I promise, this is the final illustration which utilizes a seat location to describe the impact of the incarnation on your life.
For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.  For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:6-8

Through Jesus, you have an eternal, undeserved upgrade.  Through the death and resurrection of Jesus, God confers on you a preferred status.  You’ve been upgraded.
