FOR BOTH MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

YESS is short for YOUTH EMPHASIS SUNDAY SCHOOL.  Y.E.S.S. is designed for students in middle and high school grades, and it is not your average Sunday School hour. With high energy praise, small group times, and powerful messages using computer graphics, video, and of course the Bible, we try our best to teach and motivate our students about what it means to be a Christian 24-7 in the your culture.

Every Sunday morning we gather in the Student Center for:

FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS...

 
FOR ALL OF OUR 6th, 7th& 8th GRADE STUDENTS:

We at Christ the King Lutheran Church want to make sure that you know how special you are.  God says in Genesis 1:26, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness..."  Not only did God create you, but He made you in His image.  WOW!!!  We want to provide you with a place to come and hang out with other people who can appreciate this fact.  When you are here, we don't care if you are the captain of the football team or if you have never stepped foot on the playing field.  We don't care if you have the entire spring line from Abercrombie or if you don't even know what Abercrombie is.  We don't care if you are an "A" student or a "C" student.  We DO care that you are a child of God!  We DO care that God wants you to be a part of His family. You are welcome here and more importantly - you are loved!

CONFIRMATION is a two year course of study primarily for students in the 7th and 8th grades. 
OUR MISSION IS: 
TO HELP PARENTS CREATE WITHIN THEIR CHILD A VIBRANT FAITH RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS CHRIST, AS WELL AS DEVELOPING AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE CORE BELIEFS OF THE LUTHERAN CHURCH.

During the two years students will study: The 10 Commandments, the Lord's Prayer, the Apostle's Creed, what the Bible teaches about salvation and living as a believer. We also take a retreat each year alternating subjects between the Sacrament of Holy Baptism and the Sacrament of Holy Communion.

CORE GROUPS

 As much fun as our trips and special events are - it is our small group ministry that is at the heart of  Student Ministries at CTK. CORE GROUPS are simply small groups of 8-12 students and an adult leader, that meet in each others' homes either weekly or every other week, for a time of sharing, prayer, bible based teaching, and in general "doing life together". 
    With 15O students at Sunday School, and youth events that regularly have 40-60 students in attendance, it is not always possible to notice every individual. CORE GROUP meetings are the place where we care for the individual. Our CORE GROUPS even schedule time with other CORE groups to go bowling, have a party, get together for volleyball or dodgeball or flashlight tag.
   This year  we have 100 + students committed to attending one of our ten different CORE GROUPS

ELEV8

 

Elevate (or Elev8) is a few hours on Sunday evenings devoted a couple times each month to simply get together and to be the church that is described in Acts chapter 2.  We gather (whenever there is not a special event) @ 7:00pm in the student center. Everyone brings a beverage to drink and then food to share. We usually have a food theme ("that can't be healthy", or "Sweet or Salty" or "Foreign" or "Not oreos") and end up with more food than we can eat. The rest of the time is spent visiting, and sharing about what Christ is doing in our lives and our world. We usually end up with a few songs of worship and dealing with lots of questions.  At elev8 we don't set the agenda - God does - through our students.

Want to be in the YESS band?

                     

The YESS band is never static - it is always open to any senior high student who has a passion for helping others to connect with our Father, by giving Him glory.

We open the YESS band up to senior high only, not to exclude middle school students, but to give them something to look forward to during their 7 year journey through the YESS ministry. We are in constant need of vocalists, guitar players, drummers, keyboards, flutes, and we've even had cellos and other instruments.

The YESS band rehearses in the student center Saturday mornings @ 10:00 am.  The rehearsals are open to anyone. We seldom "call" or "invite" players to play on any particular Sunday. We simply see who God brings to the Saturday rehearsal and go from there.   JOIN US!
