Christ the King

John grew up in Kansas City, Missouri about a hundred years ago. He attended Concordia College in St. Paul Minnesota where he trained to be a Director of Christian Education specializing in student ministry.
John has been married for a quarter century to his wife Lynn who has a vital ministry as a kindergarten teacher. They have 4 children (Sara, Kristen, Sean, Erin) ranging in age from 16 to 24.In 2006 John will celebrate 30 years in youth ministry having served as youth minister in Lutheran congregations in Minnesota and Oklahoma prior to coming to Christ the King in 1991. John also loves to:

•   Ride his motorcycle (Honda not a Harley)
•   Eat
•   Play guitar
•   Play banjo (yep deep down I'm a redneck)
•   Fish and hunt (when he gets invited)
•   Eat
•   Add to his collection of celebrity navel lint

John's role at Christ the King is to oversee and coordinate all student ministry efforts. He takes "hands on" leadership in:

• Senior High events / trips
• Senior High small groups
• Whatever (weekly student minstry news page)
• Y.E.S.S. (Youth Emphasis Sunday School)
• Confirmation

Tamara grew up in a small town in Southern Illinois, Marion, where she went to elementary, junior high, and high school.  Then she ventured far (about ten miles) to study Cosmetology and Business at John A. Logan College.It was during that time when she fell for the love of her life, Chuck, who immediately fell in love with her as well.  (At least that's the way she likes to remember it!)  Chuck and Tamara got married in 1999 and have been blessed with 2 beautiful children, Shelby and Seth.

How does a hair dresser get into youth ministry?  Well, Tamara is living proof that God can use anybody to accomplish his will and further his kingdom!!!  She has been on staff at Christ the King since 2001 working with Middle School Ministry.

What does Tamara enjoy when not spending time with middle school students?

•   Cooking - Tamara is a huge Rachael Ray fan and loves her show "30 Minute   Meals".
•   Scrapbooking - Tamara is constantly taking pictures and   journaling for her   kids.  She wants them to be able to remember their childhood and the stories   that go along.
•   Watching Movies - Tamara and Chuck love going to the     theater but with 2   little ones at home, most films    are seen from HBO and Starz.

Tamara's role at Christ the King is to plan and oversee all Middle School activities.  She takes "hands on" leadership in:

• All Middle School Events
• Y.E.S.S. (Youth Emphasis Sunday School)

Jason Joined the CTK staff as a DCE (Director of Christian Education) intern in early August 2008. He will be assisting John Williams and Tamara Lexow in all areas of Student Ministry during the coming school year.

Jason was born and raised in La Grange, Texas.  He enjoys:

• Skeet Shooting
• Rock Climbing
• Xbox
• Working on Computers

Tamara Burke, not to be confused with Tamara Lexow, is the office assistant for student ministries. She is the one who will often ask for information, forms, etc. from you and will attempt to keep you informed of everything you need about upcoming events via emails and this web site. She has a really nice office (now shared with Jason) and would love to get a chance to get to know the people whose names she is so familiar with through handling all the background forms and information. So, feel free to stop by, introduce yourself, and raid the candy jar or fruit bowl!
